Standard terms of service for removals, packing, and storage
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of removal, packing, and storage services by Pro House Removals ("we", "us", "our") to you ("the Customer"). By accepting our quotation, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Our Quotations
2.1. Our quotations are valid for 28 days from the date of issue.
2.2. Unless otherwise stated, our fixed-price quotations do not include customs duties, port charges, or local council parking suspension fees (unless explicitly agreed to be managed by us).
2.3. We reserve the right to amend the price if:
- The move does not take place within 28 days of the quotation.
- Additional items are added to the inventory that were not declared during the initial survey.
- There is a delay out of our control (e.g., waiting for keys during a property chain completion past 2:00 PM).
- Access to the property is restricted, requiring a long carry, or if lifts are out of order.
3. Customer's Responsibilities
It will be your sole responsibility to:
- Declare to us any items of high value (e.g., fine art, antiques, jewelry) prior to the move.
- Obtain at your own expense all necessary parking permits, CPZ suspensions, or exemptions from your local council (unless we have agreed in writing to arrange this for you).
- Ensure that nothing that should be removed is left behind and nothing is taken away in error.
- Arrange for the disconnection of all gas, electrical, and water appliances. Our staff are not authorized or qualified to perform these disconnections.
- Ensure that all lofts are well-lit and safely boarded if we are required to extract items from them.
4. Insurance and Liability
4.1. We carry comprehensive Goods-in-Transit insurance up to £50,000 per vehicle.
4.2. Our liability for loss or damage is limited in the following circumstances:
- We shall not be liable for damage to goods packed by the customer (owner-packed boxes) unless the box shows visible signs of external damage caused by our transit.
- We shall not be liable for the loss or damage to keys, cash, jewelry, or important personal documents. These should be transported personally by the customer.
- Any claims for damage must be reported to our team within 7 days of the delivery date.
5. Cancellations and Postponements
If you postpone or cancel this Agreement, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee based on the notice given:
- More than 14 days before the move: No charge.
- Between 7 and 14 days: 30% of the total removal charge.
- Less than 7 days: 60% of the total removal charge.
- Within 24 hours of the move: 100% of the total removal charge.
6. Storage Services
If we provide storage services, the following additional terms apply:
- Storage charges are payable in advance on a monthly/weekly basis as agreed.
- We require a minimum of 7 days' notice to arrange the redelivery of your items from our storage facility.
- If storage payments are strictly in arrears, we reserve the right to withhold your goods until all outstanding balances are cleared.
7. Governing Law
This contract is subject to the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
